ASAP

ASAP is a combined sensor and planning system for increasing the autonomy of satellite operations.

It differs significantly from conventional planning systems in its ability to set targets autonomously.

The system is designed to detect interesting events or characteristics of the environment that occur briefly and cannot be planned (e.g. meteors, volcanic eruptions or hurricanes) in the observed scene with the aid of optical sensors and independently adapt the operational planning of the satellite on board.

In addition, there is the requirement to operate the system later within the narrowly limited framework of a nanosatellite (mass, energy, volume).

The project is funded by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) under the funding code FKZ 50 RM 1208.
