Dr. Jan-Henrik Haunert receives award of the Victor Rizkallah foundation
11/10/2009The Victor Rizkallah foundation was initiated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Victor Rizkallah, who taught and did research at the Universität Hannover from 1978 to 2000; he now is an honorary citizen of the university. The foundation supports young researchers.
On October 29th, 2009 Dr. Jan-Henrik Haunert received an award of the Victor Rizkallah-Stiftung for his dissertation. In his dissertation he presents a new approach for automatic generalization, which is the problem of deriving small-scale maps from more detailed source maps. Dr. Jan-Henrik Haunert employed optimization techniques and methods from computational geometry to this problem.
