Research Interests
I am interested in distributed systems with a special focus on wireless sensor networks, especially a decentralized, robust and self-organized system design may lead to an observable emergent behaviour of the overall system. That is why my focus lies on the biologically inspired paradigm of desynchronization as an example for such emergent behaviour within wireless sensor networks:
Desynchronization as a simple, but self-organized technique allows sensor nodes of a wireless sensor network to share the common communication medium without collisions. Just locally available information is sufficient to establish such a harmonized behaviour of the network at a macroscopic view. Properties (also analyzed at real-world implementations, which are mainly build on the SNoW Project) like convergence rate, scalability, fault-tolerance and robustness are in my spotlight.
